Breast pump

In order to choose the right breast pump for you, it is good to think about what your needs are, in fact there are many different manual or electric models, single or double, etc.

Manual or electric?
Manual breast pumps are cheaper than electric models, they are quiet and convenient for occasional pumping. If, on the other hand, you plan to use the breast pump frequently, they are not the most comfortable because they require continuous pressure on the handle to create a vacuum that becomes heavy in the long run. In this case, electric breast pumps may be right for you because they are easier and more convenient to use, as it is the motor unit that manages the extraction effortlessly by

the mother.
  • Among the manual ones, we recommend the Philips Avent or Harmony model by Medela
  • Single or double?
A single electric breast pump is ideal for occasional extractions, while the double one, which draws milk simultaneously from both breasts, is obviously more convenient for those who need to use it more frequently. In addition to halving the time spent pumping milk, a double breast pump also removes much more milk than a single breast pump.
Double breast pumps are also indicated in cases where it is necessary to significantly increase milk production or when the baby does not provide adequate stimulation to the breast (as is often the case

    in babies born prematurely).

Another way to figure out which breast pump is right for you is to think about how often someone else will feed breast milk to your baby with a bottle. If you know that at least a couple of times a week someone else will give the baby a bottle then a double breast pump is the most convenient. Otherwise, you can also opt for a single-extraction breast pump, both electric and manual, depending on your convenience and your budget

    .

A last type that recently entered the market is that of the double breast pump in which you don't even need to keep them still in place, because they can be used “without hands” as they are wearable. So this model, a little more expensive, is very convenient, however, for mothers who still want to do some activities while they are pumping milk, in fact the motor is separated from the milk cups and you can keep it comfortably in your pocket
